Copy and paste a detail paragraph from your research paper in to the blog.

The main idea of this paragraph is to show how Hamlet was not mourning his father’s death but in fact he was. Hamlet stated, “Tis not alone my inky cloak, good mother” (1.2.82). This supports the thesis because Hamlet clothing represented that he was indeed mourning over his father’s death. He lied to his mother so she wouldn’t feel more grief than she did.

Regurgitation of facts does little to demonstrate your engagement with Hamlet. Therefore, you will not complete a multiple choice test or any other on-demand assessment that shows little more than your ability to tell me what I told you about Hamlet or that you have taken from Sparknotes. What you will do is research a question about which you are curious.

The first step is to formulate questions. For this blog, create five (5) questions about Hamlet to which you do not know the answer and can be researched. Then evaluate someone’s questions in a reply.

1. Why didn’t Hamlet just tell Ophelia that he was going to act crazy for a while? He could have just told her that he had a mission to do and they couldn’t be with each other for a while. 2. Why did Ophelia go so crazy? 3. How does Hamlet use fashion to emulate his emotions? 4. I wonder what was up with Laertes and Ophelia because it seemed that he was little into her. 5. Why did everyone live in the same castle? Isn’t there supposed to be only the king’s family in the castle? I don’t get it.

What is your favorite line from the play, Hamlet and why? Be sure to cite using MLA format using the information below.

My favorite line from Hamlet so was “I must be cruel, only to be kind:/Thus bad begins and worse remains behind” (3.4.199-200). I like this quote because it reminds me of the new season of Pretty Little Liars. Spenser is trying to protect her boyfriend Toby from A. A is very dangerous and anyone who is associated with Spenser will get hurt. She had to break up with Toby and make sure he never spoken to her in the future. Spenser told him that she has been seeing someone else for a while which was not even true.

Part 1: This quarter, we wrote college essays, read poetry and novels, recited memorized poems. Each lesson was intended to teach lessons that extend beyond the classroom. For each activity listed below, explain (a) what you did, (b) the skills you learned, (c) the lessons you learned that are relevant to life after high school.

College Essay a) We transformed a real event from our lives and wrote about it. b) I learned that express my feeling through writing. c) This assignment helped me become a better writer and I’m going to need that in college and beyond. Sonnet a) We had to write a love sonnet with the appropriate sonnet format b) I learned the right way to write a sonnet. c) This assignment showed me how to think creatively and outside of the box because we are limited with only 10 syllables a line, 14 lines and the rhyme pattern. Novel a) We had a pick a novel, read it and complete book forms for the book. b) I learned how to juggle my time so I can actually read the book. c) A lesson I learned is that you may not like something at first but if it’s something you have to do then you have to do it. Once you get used to it then you end up enjoying it. I really love A Prayer for Owen Meany. Poem Recitation a) We had to pick a poem from a list that Mr. Griffin provided for us. Then we had about a month to memorize it and then we presented to the class. b) A skill I learned is prioritizing my schedule; doing what is important not what I necessarily wanted to do. Instead of watching television I would recite my poem over and over. c) A lesson I learned is that I need to get over my fear of speaking in front of a large crowd especially in the fashion industry. I’m going to have present things all the time. Hopefully in college they will train me enough so be a good presenter. Webfolio a) We had to create a website showing all of our work in Tech Prep 12. b) I learned how to create a website and transfer files. c) A lesson I have learned that I can use after high school is organization. I wasn’t so organized with my previous work so it was difficult relocating the other work to put on my website. It is important to be organized at all times so you are always prepared for anything.

Is it possible for people to be true to themselves and not be false to others in the real world? Why or why not?

It is hard to be true to themselves and not be false to others in the real world. You always want certain people to view you differently. If you hang out with a specific group of people and you like something different then they like then you are not going to admit that you like that thing because you don’t want to seem like an outcast. Teenagers are always trying to fit in their individuality gets lost. Some teenagers might disagree and say they are always upfront about themselves but they are in denial. Everyone does it. For example, you wouldn’t be cursing, drinking or smoking right in front of your parents (unless you really are hot mess) but when you are at a party you are the craziest one there. Maybe that example is a little too extreme for everyone but you get what I’m saying.

How has Shakespeare influenced modern society? Aside from the classroom, where are his plays and poems still used or referenced? Do not repeat a reference or you will not receive credit.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian referenced Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. Prince Caspian’ uncle always wanted his brother’s thrown as king but he didn’t have an heir to pass it down to. When his wife was pregnant with his son he decided to make his move. He killed Prince Caspian’s father while he was asleep and he tried to kill Prince Caspian. The Prince escaped and he had to build an army to fight his uncle and save his country. Shakespeare’s plays have influenced some of the best movies. They teach important lessons about values, love, betrayal, and many more.

What is your New Year's Resolution?

My New Year resolution is to be less of a pessimist. I really do hate everyone even though I “get along with everyone” and they think I like them but I don’t. People are like really annoying and I don’t think they understand how annoying they are. But anyway, I don’t want to hate people any more. I want to be happy so I’m going to try to put up with these people. This isn’t going to work though. New Years Resolutions never work out.

Which poem have you chosen to memorize? Why did you choose the poem? How do you feel about public speaking? Are you good at memorization? What do you plan to do to make your presentation unique?

I choose the poem by William Wordsworth, it doesn’t have a title. I honestly choose this poem because its short but I can still at least get an A. I hate public speaking with a passion. My voices shakes and I start to stutter which is so embarrassing. Then, my voice sounds weird against the awkward silence in the room. I’m good at visual memorization. If I have a vocabulary test I can easily remember what word fits with what definition. But, memorizing a poem is a different story. In 10th grade, we had to memorize a part in Macbeth. I really studied it and I thought I knew it. When I got in front of the class though, I totally bombed and I was really upset. I’m not really trying to do anything special with this poem because I really wouldn’t know what to do. I’m just trying to get this project over with.
